Project Coordination:
Since graduating, Emily has specialised in project coordination, expertly handling responsibilities such as project design, timelines, implementation, and evaluation. She has previously worked at Young Norfolk Arts and the Norwich 2040 LCEP, where she managed projects for annual festivals. In both organisations, Emily has focused on co-designing initiatives with specific groups and age ranges. Additionally, she has contributed to several freelance projects for other organisations outside her primary role and has also self-produced various projects, showcasing her versatility and commitment to the arts.
Access and Inclusion:
Emily has dedicated her practice to enhancing access and inclusion since her university days. Her journey began with a year at Stopgap Dance Company, an inclusive dance company, as part of her placement. In her final year, she focused her dissertation on inclusive dance practices, a theme she has championed throughout her career. Most recently, Emily served as Theatre Programme Manager for Stagetext, an organisation committed to making arts and culture events accessible for Deaf, deafened, and hard of hearing audiences across the UK. In this role, she actively promotes best practices and collaborates with various venues and organisations to ensure theatre is accessible to all.
Working with Young People:
Emily has been dedicated to working with young people since her time at the University of Surrey, where she studied Theatre and Performance. Upon graduating in 2019, she took on the role of Theatre Youth Assistant at the Mercury Theatre, focusing on empowering and connecting young people across the East of England. From 2021 to 2023, Emily continued this mission with various organisations that prioritise the empowerment and engagement of young people in the region. Her commitment to fostering creative opportunities for youth remains at the heart of her work.
Current Training:
Emily was selected to participate in the Norwich Young Cultural Leaders programme, which focuses on training and workshops designed to cultivate young people's leadership skills within the cultural sector. The programme aims to ensure that young voices are integrated into cultural settings and boards. Emily actively applies the insights gained from this training in her everyday work, continuously developing her leadership skills and confidence in the arts.
